A lesson in humility and powerlessness
The battle continued yesterday between avionics and avian antics, and it was a draw.Keeping in mind that everyone was able to go home to their families after their unscheduled stop in the Hudson River,
I guess its okay to begin the jokes ! My first thought was that Howard Stern should have called the airline and inquired about other flights with a stopover in the Hudson.
A power greater than ourselves was certainly at work here. No, I don't believe that God stretched out his hand to gently slide the plane into the water. But, to me, god did have a hand in what happened yesterday, on two accounts: his hand was outstretched to the pilot, (coincidentally a certified glider pilot! )
Even with a technologically advanced Airbus, nature has a way of reminding us that we have so much less control over what happens to us than we realize.
