August 1 seemed to be the turning point in a season that seemed anything but "summery."
Here's Scallop, who is obviously female, and a mom.
She has developed an odd skin/fur condition in the area around her mouth. It sort of resembles mange. I know that birds use UV light to keep feather parasites/bacteria under control. Maybe all of the rainy weather has led to a surge in similar parasites in small mammals?
