Joyce's Angel, owned by Fantasy Lane Stables (who also own Uptowncharlybrown) isĀ running today at Tampa Bay Downs.
The name honors a little girl from Holland who passed away recently; but not before coming to America and spending some time at the track, as well as two weeks vacation with her family. Her trip and dream were made possible by a member of Fantasy Lane who sponsored Joyce and her family.
If the[intlink id="403" type="category"] Gods of Racing [/intlink]are paying attention, Joyce's Angel and her connections will either win this race, or benefit from some sort of unseen divine intervention, perhaps a visit from the "angel" that kept Afleet Alex from certain disaster:
How did Afleet Alex get up? Liz Scott thought again of her daughter, Alex. "The way he stumbled and caught himself, that was her," she told USA Today. "That was the way she walked. How many times we thought she was going to fall and she popped up and kept going." How did Jeremy Rose not fall off? [intlink id="8206" type="page"]He said that an "angel" kept him safe.[/intlink] "There was someone up there who helped us," he said. "Little Alex (Scott) kept me on."

UPDATE: Joyce’s Angel “almost” won in an inspiring stretch drive. . she looks like the real thing
