We do this in the U.S. too.  Its certainly not as popular as "racing on the flat," perhaps because over on this side of the pond, there's no pari-mutuel action.Its most popular in the "country" and Virginia hosts a lot of hurdle racing. You may have heard the names "MacDynamo," and "Good Night Shirt"in reference to the sport.The horse pictured here broke his neck, which should come as no surprise.See more coverage here
