Winning on June 14, Calvin Borel in the irons
Winning on July 2nd (by 8+ lengths), Calvin Borel aboard
I was anxious all day leading up to the race, because anything can happen. . . even bad things. It was a thrill to really feel a part of the festivities, thanks to TVG
.
Previous off-the-board-viewed-live-by-me race:
May 2 09 (Kentucky Derby Day), 7f , sloppy
4 wide, stopped-finished last 8/8
Recent off-the-board-viewed-live-by-me race:
July 25, 09 (Claiming Crown) 6f fast
4 wide, gave way-finished 7/10
Here are my two kooky theories. . .
1. Its all my fault.
He seems to run the same off-the-board race when I'm watching it live on TV.
2. His Jockey doesn't know where the magic "button" is
I want to make it clear that I am in no way "blaming" Jamie at all. . . and I will never criticize a jockey for the decisions he makes in a race. In fact, I liked his ride on him, and especially appreciated that he didn't get into him once it was clear he wouldn't hit the board.
