I've got that funny, but not-really-funny feeling in my guts after hearing that Rachel Alexandra was sold so quickly after her amazing feat of fleet-footedness. Her (then) owner and trainer weren't shy about sticking with their belief and decision to keep her out of the "boys" races like the Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown (aka Cripple Crown).
Now that her feed bucket has been moved to the barn of Steve Asmussen, my first panicked thought was " I hope we don't see her die in the Preakness."
Just the fact that "death on TV" is the predominant thought in this race fan's mind certainly can't be encouraging to those who are desperately trying to make racing a family affair.
