Gary Stevens made that comment as Mine That Bird was paraded past the appreciative crowd before joining his connections in the winner's circle. That comment could also be applied to the NBC post-race camera coverage. Whether due to shock or awe, the on-air talent kept quiet (for once) perhaps realizing that their viewers would like a chance to soak up the atmosphere with a without a lot of chatter.
