It was so very nice to see Life is Sweet (pictured above) get the chance to shine outside of Zenyatta's shadow. I think she was battling a slight touch of  "soul crushing" in those defeats against her stable mate. It wouldn't surprise me all that much if Life is Sweet were to beat Zenyatta somewhere down the line (maybe the breeding shed?)

wouldn't be surprised if Careless Jewel is found to have an entrapped epiglottis. Either that, or she will turn into a real monster once her mind catches up with her feet.

Today's the big day for Zenyatta, as she challenges the boys for the first time in her life, putting her unbeaten record on the line.he guys who get paid to pre-visualize a race don't think that she can do it today, but I don't think they're taking into consideration her massive (ahem) sex appeal.As a five year old mare in a race with future stallions, who knows? Maybe the boys will try to pull a fast one and refuse to pass her,  hoping to get lucky? She does have quite a nice rear end, after all.And, on a disturbing note. . . I had some scary pre-sleep visions of a major spill in a horse race, involving a number "5" horse. It wasn't quite a dream, more of a flash of a scene in that very tenuous and  vulnerable stage right before dropping off to sleep last night.

How quickly we forget the thrilling finish to the Derby, followed by the "almost" win in the Preakness, where MTB was the only horse with a chance to catch her.
