I headed to the shore yesterday, with my camera, hoping to find a natural arrangement of colorful rocks that could stand in for "eggs" and a bit of seaweed that would work as "grass" to form a sort of easter basket for the eyes.
This early in the season, there are no vacant and colorful shells lining the shore; at least not in this part of Massachusetts. There are, however, lots and lots of rocks! The word that came to me when I first arrived at the shore was "sterile." Its the time of year when very little life is visible to the unaided eye.
I composed some shots anyway, eager to soak in some midday sun and stock up on Vitamin D, but it wasn't the type of day that found me rushing home to review photos, certain that I'd be thrilled with the results.
But, I was thrilled and surprised at what I had made:
The sun, almost perpendicular to the water at this time of day, created stained-glass window-like effects as it shone through the rippling water.
