It’s all about the Sun

I've been feeling a little "off the beam" over the past week or so, and I was wondering what would "fix" me. I made sure to take my vitamins and fish-oil (snake oil?), checked the calendar to see if maybe my hormones were in flux, and tried to get out of my own way.

Then it occurred to me that, although the weather in these parts has not been "bad" for this time of year, there has been a distinct lack of sunny days. As a semi-evolved person, I'm always shcocked and brought down to size by just how acutely "the weather" can influence my moods.

A little while ago, I opened up the slider and stepped out on my deck, which overlooks a tiny pond on its way to becoming a marsh. Almost immediately, my spirits lifted. The sun came out, the resident duck-pair Fred  and Ginger, (photos below) waddled  up the hill and received Wonderbread for their efforts.

All around me were the stirrings of new beginnings. . . All forms of life that  make it a point to cherish every moment, which I suppose is easy if that's all you know.

I feel better.

Fred and Ginger?

Duck pairs do tend to frequent nest sites that were successful in years past. I've been greeting and observing a "pair" of my own for the past 5+ years. Obviously, there's no way to be sure, but isn't it nice to believe that even ducks know what "home" means?
