
There's a red-shouldered hawk that nests nearby. I've been seeing this particular species much more frequently over the past few years. The hawk pictured below was photographed at a cemetery about 1/4 mile from my backyard habitat, which is a marshy-woodland area that is surrounded by homes and an industrial park

This spring, I've had several fly-by sightings, including a hurried, out-of-focus encounter yesterday

This particular encounter startled me, as a single common grackle flushed this dangerous predator around the corner of the house and almost right into my face!
